PENC Educational Foundation 2018 Golf Tournament
The Professional Engineers of North Carolina (PENC) Educational Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable organization that administers funding for PENC's educational service programs. The foundation’s purpose is to promote science, technology, engineering and math education by providing scholarships to students in the field of engineering, develop programs that promote engineering education i.e., MATHCOUNTS® and Future City, and provide support for math and science educational initiatives.

The PENC Educational Foundation Golf Tournament is the primary annual fundraiser to raise funds in support of our mission. These funds come primarily from sponsorships, and a portion of the player registrations.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and golfers of all skill-levels are invited to participate. Proceeds from the tournament go to support scholarships and educational programs across the state of North Carolina. If interested in sponsoring, or playing, please contact either Jonathan Ham (jham@garnernc.gov) or Mark Smith (msmith@mckimcreed.com ).

Educational Foundation

The PENC Educational Foundation is a tax-exempt corporation that administers funding for PENC’s educational service programs such as MATHCOUNTS, student paper competitions, scholarship awards, teacher recognition, and chapter educational service programs.

Mission

The mission of the PENC Educational Foundation is to raise and administer funds to promote engineering education, fund its endowments, and promote excellence in education that impacts the engineering profession.

The initial focus of the Foundation Board was to raise an adequate endowment to grant scholarships to deserving high school seniors and college students that will aid their study at a North Carolina ABET-accredited school of engineering. For several years, the Foundation has awarded several PENC Scholarships of $500 to $2,000 annually. An increased endowment fund would provide more and larger scholarships. Beginning with an initial gift of $10,000 in 1993, and additional gifts of $40,000 (2004), $10,000 (2005) and $10,000 (2006), McKim & Creed has led the way by endowing the McKim & Creed Scholarship for Excellence, an annual award given by the Foundation to an outstanding engineering student in North Carolina.

In recent years, the Foundation Board has sought to achieve a broader impact for promoting and recognizing excellence in education. In striving for this new vision, support has been provided to the North Carolina Technology Student Association and the North Carolina Association of Advanced Placement Mathematics Teachers.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation. Contributions to the Foundation qualify as charitable contributions for income tax purposes. The Foundation's Federal Tax ID is 56-1437097.
